For too long, women and girls in Africa generally, have grappled with discrimination and inequality in the workplace which have not only negatively impacted them, their families and communities, but the larger society. One thing is clear, in many communities and states, we have failed at all levels to enhance the economic wellbeing of women and girls, despite the fact that Nigeria, and indeed, Africa have come to recognize that achieving gender equality and enhancing the economic status of women is the surest strategy to the reduction of poverty, and crime in any given society.
