Change The African Narrative

I was born in New Jersey, to Nigerian parents, and grew up in a very Nigerian household. My mom still has a very heavy accent till date, although she’s been in America for over 30 years.

When it comes to culture, food, and language, I am very much Nigerian. That I was born in America makes me American. A lot of my friends are full Americans, others are Nigerian-Americans like I am, but I put Nigeria first because of how I was brought up. I consider myself more Nigerian than American.
